Spinal Adjustments & Spinal Manipulation Franklin
Dr. Gil Center for Back, Neck, and Chronic Pain Relief
Spinal adjustments are also known as spinal manipulation. This is the practice of realigning the vertebrae by using manual pressure or by the use of a specialized adjusting instrument. The vertebrae can become misaligned because of injuries like a car accident, or because of daily activities and poor posture.
A chiropractor goes through many years of education and is trained to give adjustments. He uses his hands or an instrument to apply pressure and to put the out-of-place vertebrae back where they belong A spinal adjustment does not take long for the chiropractor to deliver. It does not usually cause any pain or discomfort. You might hear a popping or cracking sound, but this is nothing to worry about. It occurs because gases like nitrogen and oxygen leave the joint; this is known as joint cavitation and it is completely normal.
When the spinal vertebrae are misaligned, it can cause problems for the entire body, including the central nervous system and the muscles. spinal misalignments, also known as subluxations, can prevent the nerves and body’s systems from working properly, and prevent the nerves from sending messages to the brain properly.
Spinal adjustments can help the body function at an optimal level. When the spine is properly aligned, every system of the body receives important nerve signals and is able to operate more effectively.
